WhatsApp Android 2.3 support extended
WhatsApp Android definitely work remains to February 1, 2020, on smartphones with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), so the developer has announced. This is remarkable because the company scrapped last year the support for Android 2.1 and 2.2. The expectation was that 2.3 would follow this year, but the support has been extended by more than three years.
This WhatsApp Android offers better support than most developers. Many applications require a minimum of Android 4.0 or newer versions of Google’s mobile operating system. Each version of Android introduces new features and new options for developers, so some apps are only possible with more recent software.
The possibility that some recent WhatsApp Android features do not work on old Android phones, but the basic functionality of the messaging remains intact. WhatsApp users it recommends switching to newer smartphones if they want access to the latest features.
Google provides monthly distribution figures for Android free. This shows that Android 2.3 is already rarely used now. In early June was to find the software on only 0.8 percent of all Android smartphones. If WhatsApp stops its support over three years, probably even that limited market share almost completely disappeared.
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) was introduced in 2010 and was an important step for the operating system. The update did considerable improvements in the background software to run faster and smoother. The interface has been significantly overhauled to make it more user-friendly.
