How to Install TWRP and Root UMIDIGI Z2

UMIDIGI Z2 was launched in December 2017, The phone CPU powered by Octa-Core 4x 2.0 GHz & 4x 1.5 GHz Helio P23, and it comes with 6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB ROM, up to 128 GB via microSD, UMIDIGI Z2 comes with Primary Dual camera 16 MP + 8 MP and Dual camera 16 MP + 8 MP  in front, and powered by Non-removable Li-Po 4050 mAh battery, In this tutorial, we show you How to Install TWRP and Root UMIDIGI Z2, This manipulation should work only on UMIDIGI Z2 devices, remember that this step will wipe everything off the phone, take a Backup of the messages, contacts, photos and all the important files that you don’t want to lose.

Before you begin, it is important to have all the tools at hand. you will need:


Install TWRP Recovery on your UMIDIGI Z2

1- ENABLE USB DEBUGGING:

  • Go to SettingsAbout phone
  • Find the Build Number and press 8 times on it
  • Return to the previous screen. You will see that a line has appeared: Developers Options
  • Press and check USB Debugging &  OEM unlocking

2- Run Flash_tool.exe:

3- Click on Download Agent, find and locate the download agent File (it should be in the flash tool folder) and press Open.

4- Click on Scatter-loading, find and locate the Firmware UMIDIGI Z2 Scatter File and press Open.

5- Now click on Download button.

6- Connect your UMIDIGI Z2:

  • Turn off your device.
  • Remove the battery (if removable)
  • Remove Sim card and SD card to prevent data loss
  • Connect your UMIDIGI Z2 to your computer via USB cable.

7-You ‘ll see this info and the flash process automatically starts:

8- The flashing process might take some time to complete.

9- You have successfully Flashed TWRP in your UMIDIGI Z2.


Root UMIDIGI Z2 Via SuperSU

1 – Copy the UPDATE-SuperSU.Zip file on your internal storage or SD card.

2- Restart your UMIDIGI Z2 in Recovery mode:

  • press & hold  the “Volume Up + Power button” at the same time for a few seconds
  • Release all buttons when Boot Mode appears.
  • Then choose the Recovery mode by using the Volume Up to scroll & Volume Down to confirm.
  • Finally, when the Android Robot image appears press & hold Power buttons and press Volume Up once.

3- Install and flash  SuperSU :

  • Tab on”Install” and then choose “UPDATE-SuperSU.Zip
  • Press the return key
  • Just press “Reboot” to restart the phone in normal mode.

4 – Now Download & install the apk file SuperUser

5- Restart your device.

6- Now you have successfully rooted your UMIDIGI Z2.


If you want to unroot your Xiaomi device: open SuperSu app click on Full Unroot.


Root UMIDIGI Z2 Via Magisk

1 – Copy the Magisk.zip file on your internal storage or SD card.

2- Restart your UMIDIGI Z2 in Recovery mode:

  • press & hold  the “Volume Up + Power button” at the same time for a few seconds
  • Release all buttons when Boot Mode appears.
  • Then choose the Recovery mode by using the Volume Up to scroll & Volume Down to confirm.
  • Finally, when the Android Robot image appears press & hold Power buttons and press Volume Up once.

3- Install and flash Magisk:

  • Choose “Install” in the TWRP recovery and then choose “Magisk.zip
  • Press the return key
  • Just press “Reboot” to restart the phone in normal mode.

4 – Now Download & install the apk file “MagiskManager.apk”

5- Restart your device.

6- Now you have successfully rooted your UMIDIGI Z2.
