If recent patents on the Galaxy X are an indication, the actual iteration of the Samsung folding phone concept could be a little disappointing. As noted in a recent Lets Go Digital report, Samsung Galaxy X is only able to fold in like a folding phone, and a single panel of the device would be truly mobile.
What is particularly interesting about the sketches is that only one of the panels would be flexible, as shown in an Android community report.
Aside from that, the sketches also suggest that because of the hinge and overall design of the device, the curved design of the Galaxy X would echo some design elements of machines like the Microsoft Surface Book. So, according to Samsung sketches, at least the Galaxy X could end up with a noticeable gap in the area where the panels are folded.
The release date of Galaxy X remains unknown, although there is much speculation that the device could be introduced early next year, possibly during the Mobile World Congress 2018. It is also expected that it will see a limited release next year in Korea South.
